Master of Physiotherapy - Sports Science

Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) in Sports Sciences is a two-year postgraduate program that focuses on the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries, aiming to enhance athletic performance. The curriculum encompasses biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise physiology, and sports nutrition to understand movement patterns and injury mechanisms in athletes.

The program addresses rehabilitation techniques for common sports injuries such as ligament sprains, muscle strains, tendinitis, and fractures. Students are trained in advanced manual therapy, taping, dry needling, myofascial release, and sports massage. Key components include strength and conditioning, plyometric training, proprioceptive exercises, and return-to-play protocols.

Specialized training covers on-field injury management, concussion rehabilitation, and recovery strategies like cryotherapy and hydrotherapy. The program also emphasizes prehabilitation, performance enhancement, and injury prevention strategies tailored to various sports.

Practical skills are honed through hands-on experience in sports clinics, teams, and tournaments. Emphasis on research and evidence-based practice refines clinical decision-making. Graduates are equipped to optimize athlete recovery, prevent re-injuries, and improve sports performance across all levels of competition.

Eligibility : *

* As notified by the Government of Karnataka, RGUHS and IAP from time to time.

Candidates with a B.Sc. (PT) or BPT degree (3 ½ or 4 ½ years full-time) from a recognized university in India or abroad, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and 6 months compulsory rotating internship from an RGUHS-recognized Physiotherapy College. Obtain Eligibility certificate issued by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.
