Master of Physiotherapy - Musculoskeletal Sciences

Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) in Musculoskeletal Sciences is a two-year postgraduate program designed to provide advanced knowledge and skills in assessing, diagnosing, and managing musculoskeletal conditions. The curriculum encompasses biomechanics, injury mechanisms, and evidence-based rehabilitation strategies.

Key areas of study include manual therapy, exercise prescription, electrotherapy, and pain management techniques for conditions such as arthritis, fractures, sports injuries, and post-surgical rehabilitation.

Students receive training in advanced physiotherapy techniques, including soft tissue mobilization, joint manipulation, dry needling, and taping. A comprehensive approach to patient care is achieved through understanding radiology, pharmacology, and orthotics. The program emphasizes research methodology and case-based learning to enhance clinical decision-making.

Rehabilitation planning, ergonomic assessment, and preventive physiotherapy for diverse populations are integral components of the program. Clinical practice opportunities allow students to work with patients under expert supervision, facilitating the development of practical skills. Upon completion, graduates are equipped to restore function, improve mobility, and reduce pain in individuals with musculoskeletal disorders.

* As notified by the Government of Karnataka, RGUHS and IAP from time to time.

Candidates with a B.Sc. (PT) or BPT degree (3 ½ or 4 ½ years full-time) from a recognized university in India or abroad, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and 6 months of compulsory rotating internship from an RGUHS-recognized Physiotherapy College. Obtain Eligibility certificate issued by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.
