Master of Physiotherapy - Neurology Sciences

Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) in Neurological Sciences is a two-year postgraduate program that emphasizes the assessment, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of patients with neurological disorders affecting movement, coordination, and function. The curriculum encompasses neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and the pathophysiology of conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injuries, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and traumatic brain injuries.

The program covers advanced rehabilitation techniques, including neurodevelopmental therapy (NDT), proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), Bobath techniques, functional electrical stimulation (FES), and robotic-assisted therapy. Additional components include balance training, gait re-education, vestibular rehabilitation, and cognitive-motor interventions.

Hands-on training in neurorehabilitation centers, intensive care units (ICUs), and community-based settings enhances clinical expertise. The program also emphasizes patient-centered care, assistive technology, and caregiver education. Research methodology and evidence-based practice are integral to strengthening clinical decision-making.

Upon completion, graduates are equipped to improve mobility, motor control, and independence in individuals with neurological impairments, thereby enhancing their quality of life.

* As notified by the Government of Karnataka, RGUHS and IAP from time to time.

  • Candidates with a B.Sc. (PT) or BPT degree (3 ½ or 4 ½ years full-time) from a recognized university in India or abroad, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and 6 months compulsory rotating internship from an RGUHS-recognized Physiotherapy College. Obtain Eligibility certificate issued by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.
