Master of Physiotherapy - Community Health

Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) in Community Health is a two-year postgraduate program that emphasizes health promotion, disability prevention, and rehabilitation at the community level. The curriculum encompasses public health, epidemiology, and the integration of physiotherapy within primary healthcare systems.

Rehabilitation strategies are tailored for diverse populations, including older adults, individuals with disabilities, and those recovering from injuries or managing chronic illnesses. The program includes ergonomic assessments, workplace health initiatives, and preventive physiotherapy targeting lifestyle-related conditions such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.

Key competencies developed include home-based rehabilitation, disability management, women's health physiotherapy, and community-based rehabilitation (CBR) for conditions like stroke, cerebral palsy, and musculoskeletal disorders. The curriculum also emphasizes health promotion, patient education, and advocacy for accessible healthcare services.

Practical training is conducted in diverse settings, including rural and urban communities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and rehabilitation centers, to enhance clinical skills. Upon completion, graduates are prepared to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based physiotherapy services, aiming to improve mobility, functional independence, and overall well-being at the community level.

Eligibility : *

* As notified by the Government of Karnataka, RGUHS and IAP from time to time.

• Candidates with a B.Sc. (PT) or BPT degree (3 ½ or 4 ½ years full-time) from a recognized university in India or abroad, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and 6 months compulsory rotating internship from an RGUHS-recognized Physiotherapy College. Obtain Eligibility certificate issued by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.
